Therapy Workshops

Helpthemshine organizes seminars and workshops in practical oral placement therapy techniques for speech & language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, teachers and parents of special needs children and adults.

Helpthemshine helps in organizing different therapy workshops which helps to improve phonation, resonation, and speech clarity. These programs are organized for therapeutic intervention to address physiological and motor-based speech disorders. In the past, many workshops like oral placement therapy, feeding therapy were conducted which were a huge success.

Oral Placement Therapy Workshops helps in developing appropriate motor movements for speech and are therapeutically targeted using highly motivating techniques appropriate for children and adults. This workshop will lead you step-by-step, through the assessment process used with clients of varying ages and skill levels who evidence oral placement deficits. Feeding Therapy workshops focuses on promoting acceptance of touch for therapeutic feeding, oral stimulation and movement. It also focuses on techniques for spoon feeding, straw drinking and chewing solid foods.

The upcoming workshops in 2017 are

Workshop 1 Oral Placement Therapy(OPT1) | Date: 15th – 16th August 2017 | Place: Bangalore

The Three-Part Treatment Plan

The three-part treatment plan helps to improve individual’s speech clarity and production. This plan helps in tactile-sensory approach to speech therapy using therapy tools to train and transition muscle movements for speech production.Interactive, hands-on demonstrations will focus on therapeutically sound techniques to develop oral-motor movements for improved speech clarity. Muscles of the abdomen, velum, jaw, lips, and tongue will be discussed within the parameters of movements necessary for speech production. Read More…

  • Learning Outcomes

Appropriately assess oral placement/feeding/speech problems based on muscle systems. Integrate hierarchies for motor dissociation and grading (jaw-lips-tongue). Learn to use oral placement techniques to improve individual speech clarity and production.

 Workshop 2 Oral Placement Therapy(OPT2) | Date: 17th – 18th August 2017 | Place: Bangalore

Assessment And Program Plan Development

Assessment and program plan development workshop will lead you, step-by-step, through the assessment process used with clients of varying ages and skill levels who evidence oral placement deficits. It is a step-by-step program plan based on the client’s oral-motor feeding and speech evaluation results.Participants will observe three complete assessment sessions with clients from infancy to young adults, and will learn how to identify and assess oral-motor deficits that affect speech production. Read More…

  • Learning Outcomes

Identify oral placement, sensory, feeding and/or speech deficits in a variety of clients and diagnoses. Apply oral placement strategies, when appropriate, with infant, preschool, and school-aged children as a part of comprehensive speech and language therapy intervention.

Workshop 3 Feeding Therapy  : A Sensory Motor Approach | Date: 19th – 20th August 2017 | Place: Bangalore

Feeding Therapy will show you a step-by-step approach to teach your most challenging client’s tolerance of touch, enabling them to learn to eat and develop appropriate oral-motor movements. Pre-feeding exercise designed to develop the motor skills for safe, effective, nutritive feeding and therapeutic feeding techniques are targeted. Read More…

  • Learning Outcomes

Identify and define the developmental acquisition of feeding skills. It explains the benefits of improving oral movements in case of oral-phase feeding deficiencies.
